| Float in a hollow log on Splash Mountain and follow Brer Rabbit on his adventures to his laughing place and eventually down a briar patch!
Splash Mountain, which opened in 1989, has a 52 foot drop at a 45-degree angle and reaches a top speed of 40 miles an hour. It's based on the 1946 Disney film Song of the South, although the briar patch sequence is from the original book by Joel Chandler Harris.
Splash Mountain has 103 audio-animatronics. Many of the audio-animatronics were moved from American Sings in Tomorrowland, which closed in 1988. Splash Mountain is the only attraction to change the name of an entire land: from Bear Country to Critter Country. The bears didn't mind. | | |
